Piedmont, SC

 The Piedmont, South Carolina, site was established in 1965 by Union Carbide Corporation for production of carbon brush and seal rings. Pitch-based fibers production began in 1974, with a unit expansion completed in 1980. In 1982, the GP-1 PAN Fibers facility was completed for production of T-300 grade fiber. Amoco (later BP-Amoco) acquired the business in 1986. The GP-2 PAN Fibers facility was completed in 1990. In September 2001, Cytec Industries purchased the Piedmont and Rock Hill, South Carolina, sites and – combined – the sites formed the Cytec Carbon Fibers business unit of Cytec Aerospace Materials. In 2014, the mechanical completion of GP-3 was announced.
